Football

Well as you might have realised from a couple of my posts and the video on my YouTube site, I’m a Norwich City supporter, and a very proud one at that. I’ve been through the highs and lows of this historic football club, experiencing relegations, promotions and more derby day rivalry than anyone could ask for. Living just 10 miles away from Ipswich is never easy for any Norwich supporter, it’s a good thing I can take banter!

One of the worst times for the club in recent years, which has ironically turned out to be the best thing that happened to the club in a while, was when we dropped down into the third tier of English football, League 1. For everyone involved with the club, supporters, players or back-room staff, this was heartbreaking. Following this many players left and the board had to make some big decisions. David McNally was appointed as Chief Executive and after our first day defeat to Colchester there was much need for change. Paul Lambert was then appointed and has truly worked miracles since that point.

Firstly getting us promoted back to the Championship, going up as champions. He then did the unthinkable, completing back to back promotions, getting Norwich back into the top flight of English football, the English Premier League. The key ingredients have been team spirit and togetherness, and that will need to stay the same for this season too. With seven new faces brought in, a mixture of loans and permanent deals, they will have to work hard to prove their worth to Lambert. The expectation for the upcoming season, is that we will put up a good fight and hopefully, stay in the division.

I have always loved football, being a season ticket holder at Norwich from a young age and with my whole family being football fans. It has it weaknesses and I think that as a whole, football can learn a lot from both cricket and rugby. Both are played in a much better manor and have technology that football is desperately needing. This is of course my own opinion and clearly not the opinion of the head of FIFA, Sepp Blatter.
